Tips for caring for your skin this Summer

Nearly everyone looks forward to the long hours of sunshine and warm weather in Summer!

Whether it’s enjoying time at the beach or in the pool, BBQ’s with friends, bushwalking, bike riding or gardening, when you're spending more time outside in Summer you need to be very proactive about looking after your skin.

Your skin needs both extra protection and hydration.

Our Australian sun is very harsh and UV levels are often high.  Whilst sun exposure is great for our Vitamin D needs, too much of a good thing can be very harmful.

PROTECTION

You can help protect your skin by:

  • applying sunscreen, preferably SPF50
  • wearing a hat
  • spend time in shaded areas or use an umbrella
  • staying out of the sun in the middle of the day

Too much sun exposure can cause:

  • dehydrated skin
  • additional fine lines and wrinkles
  • free radical damage
  • hyperpigmentation (age spots, sun spots)
  • premature ageing

 HYDRATION

It’s hard not to enjoy time outside when the weather is so warm and inviting!

But sun and wind exposure can really dehydrate your skin.

Whilst it’s important to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated on the inside – as this helps to support your skin barrier, you also need to lock in hydration from the outside too by applying good nourishing creams.

Your skin needs plenty of rehydrating in the evening. Here are your elly b summer skin saviors!

BODY

After showering apply Rich Hydrating Body Cream all over to rehydrate parched skin. It's just like giving your skin a drink. This cream is like Dream Cream for your body!
